Siting of Major Electric Generating Facilities

Read and Laniado, LLP, has been at the forefront of electric generation siting in New York State. R&L represented Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), in seeking approval to construct the Athen's Generating Plant, the first generation facility to be certificated under Article X of the NYS Public Service Law (NY's comprehensive statute's for electric generation siting). Read and Laniado, LLP, has also assisted clients to construct smaller generating facilities, such as Florida Power and Light's Jamaica Bay Peaking Facility in Long Island, under NY's State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). From the outset of a proposal to construct a generation facility, Read and Laniado, LLP, assists its clients in preparation of materials necessary to meet its regulatory obligations. Read and Laniado, LLP, continues to represent developers of independent power production such as TransGas Energy Systems, LLC, a private developer seeking to construct a 1,000 megawatt generation facility in the Borough of Brooklyn, New York.
